Survivor Lawyer’s Self-Care Video Library for Sexual Assault Survivors

Fear. Guilt. Shame. Confusion.

After a sexual assault, survivors often find themselves overwhelmed by emotions and unanswered questions. Should I tell someone? Do I call the police? Will anyone believe me? Will the people I love blame me?

There’s no guidebook for how someone “should” feel after sexual assault. Some survivors describe feeling disconnected from what happened, as though the experience happened to someone else. Others try to push the trauma aside and continue with daily life. Every survivor’s journey is different, but one thing remains true: you don’t have to navigate healing alone.

That’s why Jessica Pride and The Pride Law Firm created Survivor Lawyer’s Self-Care Video Library. Designed specifically for sexual assault survivors, this collection of on-demand videos and educational resources provides trauma-informed support that you can access privately, whenever you’re ready.

Unlike resources that focus primarily on the legal process, this on-demand video library was created to support survivors’ emotional well-being before, during, and after their healing journey.

Why Survivors Needed More Accessible Support

During the COVID-19 pandemic, The Pride Law Firm’s managing partner, Jessica Pride, began noticing a troubling trend among the survivors she represented. They were experiencing higher levels of stress, anxiety, grief, and trauma while becoming increasingly isolated from the support systems they relied on.

Many people lost access to in-person therapy appointments and support groups. While telehealth expanded access to care, it didn’t replace the connection that many survivors found through face-to-face support.

Wanting to help, Jessica began hosting weekly online wellness sessions focused on healing practices, including trauma-informed yoga, sound healing, and other self-care techniques. As hundreds of people began tuning in, it became clear there was a need for accessible, online resources that survivors could use on their own time.

For someone who hasn’t shared their experience with anyone, attending a support group may feel overwhelming. A confidential resource available 24 hours a day can be a much more comfortable first step.

That realization led to the creation of the Self-Care Video Library in collaboration with Sirona Healing Center.

“One of the most important things I want survivors to know is that healing doesn’t have to begin in a courtroom or on someone else’s timeline. Sometimes it begins with a single moment of feeling supported, and that’s exactly what we hoped to create with the Survivor Lawyer Self-Care Video Library.”

Why On-Demand Support Matters

A woman sitting in bed at home meditating.Healing doesn’t happen on a schedule. You may encounter unexpected triggers while processing your trauma. Hearing a perpetrator’s name, driving past a familiar place, or experiencing a seemingly ordinary moment can bring painful memories rushing back.

During those moments, having immediate access to practical coping strategies can make a meaningful difference.

Simple mindfulness practices, such as grounding exercises and body scan meditations, can help you reconnect with the present moment. You don’t need previous experience to begin. The videos provide step-by-step guidance that you can practice privately from the comfort of your home, whenever you need them.

Understanding the Lasting Impact of Sexual Assault

The effects of sexual assault can extend far beyond the assault itself. Many survivors experience symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in the weeks following an assault, and for many, those symptoms continue long afterward. Depression, anxiety, dissociation, substance use disorders, and suicidal thoughts are also more common among survivors.

Healing doesn’t mean these experiences disappear overnight. Recovery often takes time, and every survivor’s path looks different.

It’s also important to remember something many survivors struggle to believe after an assault:

You’re never to blame for what happened to you.

Feelings of guilt and self-blame are incredibly common, but responsibility always lies with the person who committed the assault.

Support Throughout Your Legal Journey

Pursuing a civil sexual assault lawsuit can be emotionally challenging. Survivors are often asked to revisit painful experiences while sharing what happened during interviews, depositions, and other parts of the legal process.

Having self-care tools and emotional support along the way can help survivors feel more prepared for each stage of the process.

The Self-Care Video Library includes videos designed to support survivors throughout every stage of a case—from contacting an attorney for the first time to preparing for discovery, depositions, settlement discussions, or trial if necessary.

The goal is not only to help survivors understand the legal process but also to prioritize their emotional well-being as they navigate it.

Self-Care Is One Part of Healing

Professional treatment remains an important part of recovery for many survivors. Evidence-based approaches such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and talk therapy are often highly effective. Combining professional care with practical self-care strategies can help survivors build resilience and develop healthy coping skills between therapy sessions.

No matter how long ago the trauma occurred, healing is possible. While seeking support sooner may improve outcomes for some people, there is never a “wrong” time to begin caring for yourself.
